Well, “rats,” as Charlie Brown used to say. For the first time ever, The Bernice Garden Tree Lighting and Holiday Craft Market had to be canceled because of weather. With an outdoor party, we suppose it was just a matter of time. Dec. 5, 2013, was that time.

But next year, we hope to be back to normal. And our Charlie Brown-style garden tree was decorated and lighted on schedule.

Our intrepid vendors quickly regrouped, though, and we had a cold, windy, successful and fun Holiday Craft Market on Saturday, Dec. 14, one of many rescheduled (or already scheduled) events that day.

We even had a mini-food court, with Southern Gourmasian, Pizzeria Santa Lucia and Loblolly Creamery offering toasties to warm people’s tummies. Yes, Loblolly Creamery, with heavenly hot chocolate and handmade marshmallows!
