Mark your calendars and check them twice, because you won’t want to miss the Fifth Annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Market at The Bernice Garden on Thursday evening, Dec. 5, from 5:30 to 8.
The event is first and foremost a neighborhood party – a party with fantastic shopping opportunities. Every year cozy European-village, craft-market-style shopping makes The Bernice Garden hop.
But this year promises even more, with new neighbor Sweet Home and Clement across the street staying open late, and the east side of Main Street from the Garden to The Green Corner Store participating. Even the coming-soon Moxy Modern Mercantile will open its doors for a sneak preview.
Studio Main will host free holiday photo shoots for children 10 and younger. Digital images by volunteer photographers Lucy Kagan (from 5:30-6:30) and Mauren Kennedy (from 7-8) will be emailed to parents.
Families are invited and encouraged to make or provide special ornaments to adorn the Garden holiday tree. The children’s area for kids 10 and younger, manned by Epoch Church volunteers, will offer a fun activity, and Community Bakery, Boulevard Bread Company, ESSE Purse Museum, Oxford American, and Sweet Home and Clement will provide treats.
But adults needn’t feel left out – food vendors will offer goodies for sale ranging from gourmet hot cocoas to artisanal beer, and the shopping for locally made gifts, arts and crafts will be just up Santa’s alley.
Music courtesy of Epoch Church and vocals by Rockefeller Elementary students will add to the festivities.
For a list of vendors, please see the event at Facebook.com/TheBerniceGarden. And thanks to The Green Corner Store for recruiting such a nice variety of vendors! This will be a market to remember.
