You can always roll in for great food, gorgeous greenery and good fun at SoMa Food Truck Thursdays at The Bernice Garden, but the July edition, Thursday the 11th, is greener than most. That’s because we’ll be celebrating along with The Green Corner Store – the little eco-store that could is turning 4!
Happy birthday! And congratulations to Shelley Green who had a vision and made it happen. When she opened her eco-lifestyle store on the corner of 15th and Main, still the only one of its kind in Little Rock, some people were incredulous and didn’t see how it could last.
The Green Corner Store has not only lasted but thrived and has become a tourist attraction, as well as magnet for those who want to treat themselves and the environment right.
Can you can your own pickles? Of course you can, with supplies from The Green Corner Store.
When Shelly opened her store, she envisioned “a place where conscious consumers could find resources, education, products and community support for a healthier, earth-friendly life.” She’s achieved that vision and more, adding an old-fashioned soda fountain to boot.
To celebrate and spread the joy, The GCS will have a recycled craft project in the garden for kids during Food Truck Thursday, but you’ll want to hurry on down to the store – heck, it’s a celebration. Eat dessert first!

The first 50 store guests will receive mini ice cream cones. Or you can order a special birthday sundae and or ice cream “birthday” cake slices at the soda fountain. Shelley and the gang will also hand out organic lollipops and Glee Gum samples.
You’ll meet local vendors and sample local products to the sounds of live acoustic music by Jared Carter and local balladeer John Willis, who will be joined by members of his new band for a set of lively covers and original ditties.
Look for special offers that evening throughout the store and register to win door prizes from Tammy Sue Critters, Glee Gum, Backyard Memories, War Eagle Mills, Jelly Madness and more, including items from our neighboring businesses, The Root Cafe, the new Esse Purse Museum and Boulevard Bread Bakehouse.
