Wow, things are really growing at the garden lately, and we’re not just talking plants. Activities are in bloom and guests are blowing through like a summer breeze.
The first South Main Vintage Market, held June 15, was a decided success and new vendors are chomping at the bit to be included in July’s market, which will be here before you know it – Saturday, July 13. Might be a scorcher temperature-wise, but we know it will be hot and hopping as far as vendors and customers go.
For the baby boomers in attendance, the market is a bit like an episode of This Is Your Life – and Gen Xers could say the same thing if they were old enough to remember the show.
July’s SoMa Food Truck Thursday (that’s July 11) coincides with the first birthday of The Green Corner Store’s fabulous soda fountain, so look for something extra special that night. More yummy details to come.
We owe our thanks to the folks at the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, who brought another group of travel bloggers through SoMa Thursday, June 20. This group was also enthralled by the beauty of The Bernice Garden – and hearing owner/founder Anita Davis and gardener supreme Laverne Davis (nope, not related) talk about the things they love.
Laverne even handed out seeds to some.
The writers were also surprised – awed might be a better word for some of them – by their sneak peek tour of Esse Purse Museum, our sister endeavor across Main.
Several of them told us, “You surprised us!” Some said that they tend to think they’ve seen it all or that “a museum is a museum,” but stressed that Esse is certainly out of the ordinary and delightful – and that visitors should be happily impressed.
We think so too. In fact, it’s in the bag.
