How does our garden grow? Busily!

Spring events are coming up as fast as the flowers in the garden!

Spring events are coming up as fast as the flowers in the garden!

Wow, suddenly it’s spring and events are popping up all over the garden. And we’re not just talking weddings and markets – which we have plenty of in the near future – but all kinds of festivities and fun.

Friday we’ll be home to Yoga on the Rocks, a fundraiser for the Arkansas Climbers Association.

That’s exciting for us, and we hope for you, too.

Saturday is the first South Main Vintage Market of the year, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. You won’t want to miss the top-notch vendors and their offerings. Loblolly’s truck will be on hand, and organ-grinder music from 10-11 a.m. will set the tone for an ever-so-retro shopping experience.

Farmers marketAnd of course Sunday is the second Bernice Garden Farmer’s Market of the 2014 season. You can never go wrong there, and our crackerjack market manager Bo Bennett has big plans for the year. Every Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. through mid-November, you’ll find the best of local offerings to make your mealtimes special and your tastebuds dance. Watch the little market that could as it grows before your eyes.

QQUMC Easter Egg Hunt Flyer 2014

April 19 will bring giggles and grins to young and old at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist’s Easter egg hunt. It’s a come-one, come-all event, so come on over to join in.

Let us mention one last event on the near horizon about which we’re very excited, then we’ll go: On Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. until noon, the garden will be the site of The Great Cloth Diaper Change 2014. An official Guinness World Records event, the diaper change promotes the use of cloth diapers over disposables, which we love.

The 2013 diaper change set a new world record, with, according to the website, “8,301 cloth diapers changed at one time at 182 qualifying locations in 15 countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Chile, Germany, Spain, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, United States.”

Have baby, willing to change? Come to The Bernice Garden and help break that record.

And remember to “reduce, re-use, re-diaper.”

See you soon.
